Interdisciplinary Neuroscience
Dr. Robert Midence, a Latinx native, is a charismatic scientist with strong leadership qualities who has conducted extensive research in various biomedical fields and sciences. He commenced his academic journey at the prestigious National Taiwan University, where he developed a foundation in physical chemistry and conducted research in an organometallic synthesis laboratory as part of his undergraduate studies. Following his bachelor’s degree, he pursued theological studies at Taipei Bread of Life, where he simultaneously taught young scholars in areas spanning chemistry, biology, physics, and calculus. Eventually, his research led him to a direct position as a candidate in an interdisciplinary neuroscience PhD program at Academia Sinica, the most prominent research center in the country. Working in collaboration with the department of Clinical Medicine at National Cheng-Kung University Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Taiwan, he completed a thesis where he established foundational genetic tools to empower the exploration of the sixth sense: proprioception.
Rob is well-versed in crossing disciplinary boundaries, as he has lived in different countries and cultures and is currently fluent in four languages. He is currently spearheading efforts to obtain pharmaceutical and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) licenses from international notified bodies, such as the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia and the European Medical Agency, at a vaccine company where he works.
